Q&A
Q: What does the magnet actually do in cat eye gel polish?
A: The magnet pulls magnetic pigment particles in the gel into a visible line or pattern. Without the right magnet, you won’t get the signature cat eye effect.
Q: Do you need a dark base for the cat eye to show up?
A: A dark base makes the effect more dramatic, but if the pigment quality and clarity are right, you can get sharp cat eye lines even on a clear or light base.
Q: Why does my cat eye effect fade or blur before curing?
A: If you wait too long after using the magnet, move the hand, or use too much gel, the pigment can shift and lose definition. Use the magnet for 3–5 seconds, then cure right away to lock the effect.
Q: What kind of magnet should I use for the strongest line?
A: Use a proper cat eye magnet—bar or wand—for the cleanest results. Weak or generic magnets won’t create a strong, defined line.
